Cranberry Sparkler

This month has gone by so quickly.  The holidays are the same time every year, why then am I always so surprised by them?  Last year we shared a cranberry recipe for Christmas, so I thought we’d keep with that theme but with some added flare.  Bubbles to be more exact.

“Leave a little sparkle wherever you go.”

Most of my favorite cocktails include some type of sparkle to them.  Prosecco just has the perfect light flavor, not too sweet but also not too harsh or bitter.  It goes really well by itself or with added juices and flavors.  Today’s cocktail includes prosecco, is festive in colors, and includes a special simple syrup, which I feel gives many craft cocktails that extra something

We have lots to celebrate this time of year.  So much to be grateful for.  December has already been full of so much cheer.  We spent some wonderful time with family, had lots of Christmas parties, both with my husbands’ company and me with my coworkers at my new job, and even had a Palm Spring getaway last weekend for my dad’s 60th birthday.  So a celebration is in order and this cocktail is one that will be on our menu today and probably tomorrow too!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy eve!  We will be back before the end of the year, for one last recipe.  Until then, lets eat, drink and be merry!

Cranberry Sparkler

Yield: 4

    For the rosemary simple syrup:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
    For the cocktail:
  • 1/2 cup 100% cranberry juice, cold
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup, cooled
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 bottle prosecco

  1. In a small sauce pan, add your sugar, water and rosemary and bring to a boil
  2. Lower the heat and let simmer for 1 minute
  3. Turn off the heat and let syrup steep for 30 minutes, cool and reserve for your cocktail.
  4. In a cocktail shaker add cranberry juice, syrup and ice and shake.
  5. Pour juice mixture evenly among 4 glasses (about 1/3 way up glass)
  6. Fill remaining flute/glass with prosecco
  7. Garnish with sprig of rosemary and fresh or frozen cranberries
  8. Enjoy
